Wednesday Evening Classes Are Cancelled

Dear BDBC Family,

After speaking at length to Rob this afternoon, we believe it would be best to cancel Wednesday evening classes for the safety of our church family. A new system of snow has developed and conditions are deteriorating rapidly just north and west of the area.

I am in the process of contacting the news stations...

Thanksgiving: Focus on God; Not News

Having confessed to being a news-aholic, I have noticed that I’m not paying as much attention to news lately as I used to. You know the reason. As with most people, giving heed to the news leaves me ... (more)

BDBC Church Cancelled This Morning

Dear BDBC Family,

After speaking at length to Benjamin this morning, we believe it would be best to cancel church services today for the safety of our church family. It was a difficult decision to reach. I was willing to have services, but we agreed that it might be dangerous to travel home after services. The weather is supposed to deteriorate through  the morning with additional snow, falling temperatures and icing roads. The winds will be blowing snow in Milwaukee soon. Visibility is greatly reduced at my house already.

Christmas music practice for adults and children will be moved to Wednesday night at 6:45 PM. The adults who are not part of the Christmas music programs will have a prayer meeting. Supper will still be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday.

                                                                                        Love and stay warm,

The Fellowship of Faith

Sunday afternoon was my favorite time of the week when I was the “preacher boy” pastor of the country church during my college years. Following the morning worship I was invited to a member’s home for lunch. As a single college student, I definitely enjoyed the down-home cooking--especially at the Musgrove homestead. Guy and Myrtle Musgrove were in their mid nineties and had been married for 75 years. They were both spry and full of life from country living. The “kids” (70 year old Odell and wife Ada Faye) lived in a house about a hundred yards away... (more)

Daniel

I couldn't leave Daniel without one final thought. It was a real encouragement to me to see God's sovereignty so evident each week in the study - intentional, purposeful, and actively moving His creation through history toward His predetermined goal. But you'd expect that from God. In the end, what really stood out and made an impression on me was Daniel's faithfulness for 70 years in a Godless, hostile culture. And in the end, isn't that the quality all believers will be judged by? Matthew 25.

I Cor. 4:2 says it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.

Thank you for your participation. I hope it was a blessing and challenged you to remain faithful even in the face of the lions den.

God's Sovereignty

I read an article recently from a well know evangelist and in it he stated that the earthquake in Haiti was a result of God's punishment. My question is two-fold.

First, do you think God targets countries and individuals for punishment?
Second, do you think it is our responsibility to indicate when that is occuring?

Ruth

The study of Ruth has been a real blessing. The parallels to Christ as our redeemer are amazing. Ruth was a good and virtuous woman with an honorable reputation. She was a dedicated, hard worker. Her kindness and loyalty towards Naomi were well known. Yet with all of these commendable qualities, Ruth could not change her situation. Her life and future prospects were bleak. She was a foriegner, a widow, as a woman - a non-entity in that time, no name of her own - simply the Moabitess, and absolutely no status or standing in the community. Then came Boaz who loved her and redeemed her. From that point on, her life and her future changed. She was now Boaz's wife. She was no longer a slave in the fields but the bride of the one who owns the fields.

My hope is that you can say like Job - "For I know that my redeemer liveth"

Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.

Daily Bread

In Matthew chapter 6 Jesus gives us a template on how we should pray and the things we should include. One of the elements is asking for our daily bread - "Give us today our daily bread".

What have you asked God to put on your plate today?

Thanksgiving

Its good to have a day specifically set aside to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for. But thanksgiving should be a continuous celebration.

I Thes. 5:18 Eph. 5:20 Psalms 100:4

Without a thankful heart, we will not experience the abundant life.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Heaven or Hell

The Bible tells us in John 14:2,3 that Heaven is a prepared place. It also tells us in
Matthew 25: 41 that Hell is a prepared place.

Which place are you prepared to go to?

Something to Chew on

This past Sunday our hymn of decision was "I Have Decided To Follow Jesus".
The last verse we sang said "My Cross I'll Carry Till I See Jesus No Turning Back No Turning Back".
Luke 9:23 says we should take up our cross daily and follow Christ.

What is your "cross"?

Bible Study 11/08/09

Please make every effort to be in class this Sunday. Pastor will be speaking and you will want to hear what he has to say. Continue to pray about what your part might be in the class. Stay faithful.
